Mr. Al Drago, Principal
Mr. Drago brings over two decades of educational leadership and a distinguished background as a retired U.S. Marine to our school community. He has been dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can thrive.
Mr. Drago has been married to his wife for nearly five decades. Together they raised three sons and now enjoy spending time with their four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
When he's not at school, Mr. Drago can be found enjoying the outdoors through hunting, fishing, and camping. The Dragos relocated to Onaway from Fort Collins, Colorado, along with their three beloved dogs.

Mrs. Magda Pastwikowski
After being born and raised in Poland, Magda earned her MBA degree from the Free University in Berlin, Germany. She moved to the United States in 2006, where she and her husband, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, moved frequently. After he retired from the Coast Guard, they settled in Cheboygan with their son. She enjoys gardening, photography, and reading books in her free time.

Mrs. Linda Baxter-May
Mrs. May has been a member of the Bishop Baraga faculty since 2020, bringing over 15 years of teaching experience with a special emphasis on reading instruction. She holds a Masters Degree in Education from Marygrove College in Detroit and a Bachelors from Eastern Michigan University. Her expertise in literacy education makes her a dedicated advocate for helping students develop strong reading skills.

Mrs. Jennifer Budzinski
Mrs. Budzinski is a proud Bishop Baraga alumna who began her teaching career in 2010 and has found her passion in teaching first graders to read. When she's not in the classroom, she enjoys camping and spending time with her husband John and daughter Hazel. She brings enthusiasm and dedication to helping young students discover the joy of learning.

Ms. Brenda Dunham
Ms. Brenda began teaching in 2012 and is the proud mother of two grown children, Grayson and Tess. When not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Andy, and their chocolate lab Paisley, exploring new restaurants, traveling, and cheering on University of Michigan sports. Ms. Brenda loves relaxing at her family’s place in Cadillac, where they enjoy each other's company.

Mrs. Jan Franz
Mrs. Franz has been a member of the Bishop Baraga community since 2015, bringing over 20 years of education experience to her many roles as teaching assistant, morning greeter, and lunchroom and recess monitor. Her greatest joys are being a wife, mother to two daughters and their husbands, and Mimi to her grandson Montgomery. When she's not at school, she loves spending time on her boat and enjoying quality time with her family.

Ms. Megan Myas
Ms. Megan joined Bishop Baraga in 2024 where she enjoys teaching Preschool and inspiring young minds during these crucial early learning years. She is passionate about fostering curiosity and growth in her students as they begin their educational journey. When she's not in the classroom, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and her beloved cat, Margo.

Mr. Scott Pichard
A southern California native, Mr. Pichard has been teaching since 2022 and joined the Bishop Baraga community in 2025. He is passionate about helping students learn, grow, and discover God's love through his work in the classroom. In his free time, he enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and snowboarding.

Mrs. Lucy Sanchez
Mrs. Sanchez joined Bishop Baraga in 2025. Growing up in Yorkshire, England, she fell in love with art at a young age and enjoys working with metal, glass, and ceramics. In 2012, Mrs. Sanchez moved to the United States after marrying her husband Daniel. They have two children, Rosey and Sonny. One of Mrs. Sanchez's favorite parts of being at Bishop Baraga is leading the Art Club; she loves helping students explore their creativity and discover just how fun art can be.

Miss Gabrielle Stempky
A Cheboygan native and Bishop Baraga alumna, Miss Gabby has been teaching since 2021 and has a passion for working with kindergarten students. She comes from a large family with four siblings, including a younger brother who attends Bishop Baraga. She looks forward to another exciting year of helping young learners grow and discover their potential.
