Celebrating Reading Month: A March Full of Literacy Magic!
March was a special month at our school as we celebrated Reading Month with enthusiasm, creativity, and a whole lot of great books! Students, families, and staff came together to make literacy come alive in memorable ways throughout the entire month. A few highlights:
Dr. Seuss' Birthday: We celebrated the birthday of one of the most beloved children's authors of all time! We honored Dr. Seuss with all the rhymes, silliness, and imagination that his stories inspire. From The Cat in the Hat to Oh, the Places You'll Go!, his words continue to spark a love of reading in children everywhere.
Reading by Flashlight: Students curled up with their favorite books and flashlights in hand. Reading by flashlight brought a sense of wonder and adventure to storytime — proof that a great book can turn any moment into something extraordinary.
Reading Buddies: Older students paired up with younger readers for Reading Buddies. These special partnerships not only strengthened literacy skills but also built meaningful connections across grade levels.
Mystery Readers: Who's behind the door? Throughout the month students waited to find out who the Mystery Reader would be. Community members, staff, and special guests took turns surprising classrooms with a favorite story.
Bring a Parent or Special Adult: Perhaps the most heartwarming event of the month was our "Bring a Special Adult" reading day. Classrooms were filled with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends — all sharing the simple but powerful gift of reading together. The smiles said it all.
Reading Month reminded us that literacy is not just a skill — it's a gift we give to children when we share our love of stories. A huge thank you to our students, families, staff, and community members who made this month so unforgettable. Here's to a lifetime of reading! 🌟
