Prospective Students

Outstanding Catholic Education for Children

Thank you for your interest in Bishop Baraga School Cheboygan, MI. We know that choosing a school for your child is an important responsibility.

Our goal is to offer you information about our Catholic school that will help you make an informed decision about where best your child can learn and grow academically and spiritually. We are confident that by working together with parents, we can prepare our students to succeed in and out of the classroom.

At Bishop Baraga we strive to:

  • Foster a disciplined and caring environment within classrooms and the total school community.
  • Offer a challenging educational curriculum with high academic standards and an emphasis on fundamentals.
  • Instill and promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ, offering support to the faith formation children receive at home and through the Parish.

Parental Involvement

We feel strongly that parental involvement is critical to the success of a child. Our parent-faculty partnership serves as a foundation for offering our students a complete education of the mind, body, and spirit. Our school families are very involved, attending and participating in a number of school and Parish activities.

Each family at Bishop Baraga is asked to make a volunteer commitment. This commitment enables us to offer a variety of programs and activities that might not otherwise be possible. Each family's participation also provides parents with a way to help improve the quality of our school through the use of their time and talents.

Quality Improvements

At Bishop Baraga, we are continually working to improve the quality of our school. Over the last two years, several new programs have been implemented to provide additional services and opportunities for our students and their families. These new programs include:

  • Expanding the “Faith Development” program through the use of liturgy services in lieu of mass when there are funerals and pastoral retreats, as well as morning scripture readings and announcements, which are made over the PA (public announcement) system on Tuesday and Wednesday when assembly or mass is not held.
  • Creating new school programs such as the LEGO Robotics club, the Cooking and Archery clubs, and our Motor Moms and Dads fitness program.
  • Expanding the school's music program by offering music lessons to all K-3rd grade students. We also created an event entitled Spring Musicale to display the musical talent of these students.
