Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost to send a child to Bishop Baraga School?
A trip to Disney World is comparable to tuition. Tuition for the first child is $2,300, with
each additional child 10% less. There is also a $35 registration fee for each child and a $25
technology fee per family for children K-6.
What financial assistance is available to help with tuition?
We offer tuition assistance for grades K-6 through our Scholarship Fund. The school uses
the FACTS Grant & Aid Application System to process our financial aid applications. All
applications and supporting financial documents, along with a $25 application fee, are sent
directly to FACTS. The school will not have access to your sensitive financial information,
but instead receives only a list of applicants, prioritized by need. This system ensures a
fair and professional review of every applicant. Any interested family may apply, regardless
of religious affiliation. For more information on the FACTS Management System, please
click on the link at the left.
Are only Catholics attending this school?
No. We welcome students of all faiths! At this time there are many families that have
non-Catholic students enrolled in Bishop Baraga.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. The school uniform is worn every day in grades K-6 unless a special “dress-down day”
or “color day” is designated. To help defray the cost of uniforms, our parents have
developed an informal “Uniform Exchange.” Parents bring in school clothes that their
children have outgrown but are still in good condition. Families can “shop” for new uniforms
from the clothes other parents have donated.
Is there bus service?
Students may use the public school bus system to travel to school. Information about bus
routes and schedules is available through the Cheboygan Area Schools Transportation
Department (231) 627-4422. School cancellation information can be found on TV, Channel
9 & 10 and 7 & 4 News.
What are the beginning and end times for the school day?
Students may be dropped off at the front doors at the earliest time of 7:30 a.m. School
begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends with the 3:15 p.m. dismissal bell.
How many students are in a classroom?
The number of students per class averages at 15-16.
How does the hot lunch program work and is milk included?
Hot lunch is served four days of the week with pizza being available on Fridays. White or
chocolate milk is purchased separately.
Tell me about the Preschool Program.
Three-year-olds must be potty trained and in the school on Tuesday and Thursday for ½
