6th Grade Washington D.C. Trip

Each year, our 6th grade class travels to Washington D.C. and tours some of our country's most important and historic sites. This trip is a culmination of all their hard work throughout their time at Baraga, and serves as a great bonding experience for the classmates before moving on to middle school. Organized by Mrs. Jill Kwiatkowski and chaperoned by other school staff and parents, students are able to experience firsthand some of the most unique and interesting sites from our country's capital. Below is a brief
outline of the trip, as well as approximate costs for the events. The sixth grade students and their families work hard throughout the school year in order to raise the needed funds for this trip. The students, and all of us here at Bishop Baraga, thank our school parents, the parish and the larger community for their continued support of this worthwhile educational experience.

Trip Schedule:
This is a one week trip (Friday to Friday), usually planned for the second week in May. The group carpools to Toledo and boards an Amtrak train at 11:20 p.m., arriving in Washington D.C. the following day at 12:40 p.m. The return trip leaves Washington D.C. the following Thursday at 4:10 p.m., arriving in Toledo at 5:30 a.m. Travelers again carpool from Toledo back to Cheboygan arriving at the school about 1:00 p.m.
