Battle of the Books If your student loves to read, Battle of the Books is a great way to encourage this reading, while giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge. Students in grades 3 - 6 are divided into teams and each student is asked to read several books for the team. The books are provided to the students for free, thanks to donations from the Home and School Association and a school grant. The students read the books on their own time and the battles take place after school. The teachers who direct the program - Joey Miller, Mary Redmond and Jill Kwiatkowski - ask questions about the books during the battles in a quiz bowl format and the students answer the questions as a team. The program runs from December through March. |
