Whether you are planning to be a rock star or simply want to be able to follow along in
the Sunday hymnal, having the ability to read music and play an instrument is a great
asset. Students in grades 4 - 6 are given two opportunities to develop these skills.
Students in the 6th grade have the opportunity to take band class at the middle school
with other 6th grade public school students. At the end of 5th grade, students can sign
up for band and select an instrument. Marshall Music and Cheboygan Middle School
coordinate instrument rental and communication with the parents. During the 6th grade
school year, the students take public school bus transportation to and from Bishop
Baraga for one hour each day. Please note: Students who join the band program will
miss the art and gym classes at Baraga in order to participate.
Students in fourth and fifth grade, and those sixth graders who are not involved in band,
are given instruction on how to play a recorder under the direction of George Krawczyk.
